BIT SINDRI PLACEMENT 2011

: BIT Sindri, the only
government engineering college
in the state, made a record of
sorts on Tuesday when the total
number of students securing
jobs through campus
recruitment crossed the 500
mark.
With Hindalco picking 17
students, the total number of
students securing jobs in one
session went up to 507.
According to G Kumar, professor
in charge of training and
placement, Hindalco organized
the recruitment camp on
Tuesday in which 64 students of
BIT Sindri and 10 students from
NIT Patna participated. The
company has offered a salary
package of Rs 4 lakh to those
selected.
So far, as many as 80 students
from mechanical engineering, 70
from electrical, 53 from
metallurgical, 57 from chemical
and 67 from civil engineering
were selected for recruitment by
different companies.
Infosys chose 139 students, Patni
Computers 49, Jindal Steel Works
57, Vedanta 35, Hindustan
Motors 20, Essar Steel 12, Adani
Power 21, Gammon India 20, L&T
6 and Tata Steel 7.
Institute director S K Singh
expressed happiness over the
success. "We have submitted a
proposal to the state science and
technology department for a
separate building for training
and placement. This would not
only help students from this
institute but aspirants from other
institutes of the state as well," he
said.
